If you’re wanting to stream with your PlayStation 4, but you don’t have the money to purchase a capture card and you have a PC or laptop then here is an alternative. Here are the minimum requirements for this to work for you.
- PlayStation 4 (With System Software 3.50 or later installed)
- DualShock 4 controller
- USB Cable
- PlayStation Network Account
- Internet connection with upload and download speeds of at least 5 Mbps (12 Mbps recommended)
Connecting your PlayStation 4 to a PC or Laptop is pretty simple. First, you need to download the application PS4 Remote Play. Once you download the application for the correct operating system and open the application you’ll be prompted to search for your PlayStation 4. Be sure your PS4 is turned on and logged into a profile. Once the application has found your PS4, make sure you connect your PS4 controller to your PC or laptop via USB in order for you to be able to control your PS4.
Open up the Window Capture menu and select [PS4 Remote Play] PS4 Remote Play. Once you make your selection the picture should now be showing within your OBS system. Now you can add in whatever overlay’s and features you want to your screen and you’ll be ready to broadcast.
You’ll have to use the controller that is connected to your PC/Laptop, but this is the easiest way to connect a PlayStation 4 to OBS without a capture card. It is wireless so you may want to adjust the settings to ensure the quality of your stream does not drop in frame rate for your viewers.
